Troop 747 has been busy this year! Take a look at pictures from our past events! NOVEMBER Scout 'O Rama: This is Grand Canyon Council's biggest Scouting event each year. 747 had a booth this year with a great display of Scout books, uniforms, patches, and accessories through the years. Special thanks to those who contributed to our collection for the day! There were tons of great activities for the boys to do at other booths too. OCTOBER Fall Multi-District Camporee: The Firebird District hosted a huge Camporee in Wickenburg this year. Troop 747 was among 1300 other Scouts that participated. Congrats to the Hawk Patrol for winning 2nd place in the log competition. Order of the Arrow 2008: We had our first official OA elections in Sepetember. Then, our OA candidates got to participate in the OA Ordeal at the beginning of October. Congratulations to our OA Arrowmen! SEPTEMBER Tigeree 2008: Troop 747 participated in the annual Tigeree. They spent the day teaching Tiger Cubs about flag ceremonies and how to salute the flag and do the Pledge of Allegiance.
Lava Tube Campout: The first campout that included our newest Scouts - the Dragon Patrol. Troop 747 took a break from the heat and headed North to Flagstaff to check out the Lava River Cave in the Coconino National Forest (official site). You can also see a brief video from the Bismark Lake hike here. AUGUST Car Wash: Another fund raising activity for the Scouts. The highlight of the day was when the boys got to tackle a huge truck that pulled in. Fortunately, the boys only had to wash the cab and the rims. Open House: Troop 747 & Pack 421 kicked off the school year with the annual Open House. Lots of activities and information for kids and parents! Pioneering Projects: After the yard sale, the Scouts worked on their Pioneering merit badge. Yard Sale: When is the best time to have a yard sale fund raiser? Mid-August when it's over 110 degrees, of course! JULY Post-Geronimo Meeting: The boys had so much fun that they wanted to share their stories, skits and songs with all of the parents. Camp Geronimo 2008: Thanks to everyone who made this possible for the boys. It sounds like they had a lot of fun, worked hard, and earned some merit badges and awards too! Court of Honor: Congrats to the Scouts of Troop 747 for their many awards at our latest CoH. Thanks to the SPL for putting together a great program! You can also view the video that was presented at the Court of Honor here. JUNE Five Mile Hike: If you leave early enough (4:30 am), you can actually hike in Phoenix before it gets hot! MAY Wet Beaver Creek Campout: Beautiful country up near Sedona. The boys had fun swimming, fishing, and cooking! We even made homemade ice cream. Service Project Weekend: The boys all worked very hard moving bricks here in Phoenix and doing service projects at Camp Geronimo this weekend. The weather was a little better in the valley, though! Lots of red clay mud in the Rim country. End of Year Picnic: Hours of fun and games at the Pack 421 / Troop 747 end of year picnic near Manzanita school.
