Troop 747 has been busy this year! Take a look at pictures from our past events! SEPTEMBER 2011 AUGUST 2011 Lava Tubes: We always kick off the new school year with one final campout up north of Flagstaff. This year, the Scouts and Ventures went on a few hikes, managed to stay dry, had some elections, had a Scout Service, and finished off with a hike in the Lava River Cave. JULY 2011 JUNE 2011 Camp Geronimo: Troop 747's fourth year at Camp Geronimo for summer camp. Once again, the boys earned tons of merit badges, had lots of fun, and even earned the Band Aid Award (for most visits to the health lodge). We also had several Scouts who worked at camp for the summer and taught a few classes to the younger boys. MAY 2011 Geronimo Service Project: In preparation for a week this summer at Camp Geronimo (North of Payson), the Troop headed up for a service project weekend. The big project this time was replacing the roof on the dining ramada at campsite 21. APRIL 2011 Webelos Meeting: The Troop had some boys Webelos come visit for one of our April meetings. The boys worked on marbles and ultimate frisbee. Spring Camporee: Thunderbird District's Spring Camporee was at White Tanks Regional Park this year. Even though it was extremely hot, the boys still managed to have some fun. Scout Sunday: The Troop celebrated Scout Sunday at Phoenix Friends Church in April. Our Eagle Scouts were recognized, some Scouts and Ventures provided music for the service, and a barbecue was provided by the Troop and Crew as a thank you to the church for their support. Scout O Rama: This is the annual celebration of Scouting hosted by the Grand Canyon Council. Troop 747 did a pioneering booth this year. For the first time, it actually rained while we were there (and it was a bit cold) - quite a difference from the hike the week before! Picacho Peak: Normally, we do this hike in March, but we decided to try it in April this year. Unfortunately, it was unseasonably warm so we didn't hike quite as much. MARCH 2011 Webelos Crossover: We helped out with the Thunderbird District Webelos Crossover campout. The event took place at the Adobe Mountain Railroad Park. Colt's Eagle Court of Honor: Troop 747 celebrated the awarding of our fourth Eagle Scout rank. Congratulations, Colt! FEBRUARY 2011 JANUARY 2011 Superstition Wilderness: One of our favorite annual campouts is our Superstition Wilderness camp. Lost Dutchman State Park is a great place to do a family camp with plenty of access to hiking trails that go into the Superstition Mountains. Estrella Mountain Hike: We did an easy, five mile hike at Estrella Mountain Regional Park, located southwest of Phoenix.
Wondering where our old pictures went? They've just been moved to our photo archive pages. We now have one for 2008, 2009, and 2010. |
